BigFoot Visits the Big Cities of the World - Another BigFoot Sighting

Lancaster, PA — Fox Chapel Publishing, in partnership with author Emily Arrow, have donated copies of Kids’ Guide to Learning the Ukulele to Kids in a New Groove (KING), which is a nonprofit that provides free, weekly music mentorship to youth in foster care. Arrow’s book will aid children in the program who are interested in ukulele lessons for the forthcoming year and beyond.

Since 2009, KING has empowered over 700 youth with music mentorship and lessons in Central Texas. According to its website, KING equips youth in care with concrete tools to show the world and, more importantly, youth themselves what they can accomplish with passion and dedication.

“Finding unique ways to encourage children’s love for music is an essential component to our program at Kids In A New Groove.”
~ Laura Wood, Executive Director, KING

“Finding unique ways to encourage children’s love for music is an essential component to our program at Kids In A New Groove,” says Laura Wood, executive director of Kids in a New Groove. “We were so excited to be a beneficiary of Emily Arrow’s book tour for the release of ‘Kids’ Guide to Learning the Ukulele,’ which aligns with our own vision of inspiring the next generation of musicians.”

Wood expresses that the benefits of music are monumental, and one statistic in particular is quite striking. For the past four years, 100% of eligible KING high school seniors have graduated high school. This is an extraordinary accomplishment compared to the national average of 47% for youth in foster care. “Kids in a New Groove focuses on changing the lives of children in foster care, one music lesson at a time,” says Wood.
