East Petersburg, PA — Stitching Pathways: Successful Quilting on Your Home Machine (Landauer Publishing, November 2017) by Wendy Sheppard has been nominated by Foreword Reviews as a finalist for the 2017 INDIES Book of the Year Award in the Crafts and Hobbies category.
Published by Landauer Publishing, the book is a visual guide for quilting on a home sewing machine, inspired by Sheppard’s blog Ivory Spring. Here, she shares her free-hand and machine quilting designs and tips. “Of all the books I have authored for Landauer Publishing, Stitching Pathways is the nearest and dearest to my heart because the idea was born out of requests from quilting friends who read my posts on domestic machine quilting,” Sheppard says. “In many ways, Stitching Pathways isn’t just mine, but rather it belongs to the wonderful quilting community.”

Sheppard is a longtime Landauer author who has published several titles, including Recreating Antique Quilts and Creative New Quilts from pre-cuts or stash. “We are honored that Stitching Pathways is a 2017 Foreword INDIES Finalist,” says Landauer advertising and promotions manager Catherine Dreiss. “It recognizes the excellence of the book’s unique approach to teaching machine quilting, using detailed diagrams and step by-step stitch guides. Unlike any other book, Stitching Pathways has diagrams that include directional arrows and rests for breathing and regrouping – essential for successful machine quilting. We want quilters of all levels to be able to say, “I made this from start to finish!” – and Stitching Pathways will help get them there.”

Wendy Sheppard, originally from Southeast Asia, began her career as a chemical engineer. In 2005, with encouragement from a friend and no prior experience, she made her fi rst quilt.
