Distinguished carver crafts a whimsical tree stand large enough for a 6-Foot Tree
Full article featured in the upcoming Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine Winter 2018 Issue
An acclaimed carver for over 35 years, Betty Padden has made a name for herself with a signature style that is nothing short of fantastical. Her designs marry an organic, often unsanded texture with built-up layers of eye-popping color – and this Christmas tree stand takes those qualities to a whole new level.
While carving a series of Santas, Betty started daydreaming about what kind of world her Santa lived in. The ideas that they lived and worked in Christmas trees became the foundation of her masterpiece dwelling made of pine and super sculpy.
Betty’s wood carving creative process can be found in her special interview, on page 48 of the Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine – available on newsstands November 20th.

I would really like to see more extensive photos and coverage of Betty Paden’s Christmas tree stand. Also more of her carving work would be appreciated.
I am a long time subscriber and look forward eagerly to each issue of WCI.
