Lancaster, PA — Saving money has been a huge appeal for people who have flocked to the tiny house movement—a home defined by a square footage between 100 and 400 square feet. For others, it’s the appeal of a more simpler life. Whatever the reason may be, the tiny house movement and those who live it has captured worldwide attention. Making the jump to a tiny home comes with its risks and challenges though. How do you heat a tiny home? Where do you “park” it? And what about a toilet?
A new book by the award-winning tiny home expert Chris Schapdick can answer these questions. His book The Joy of Tiny House Living: Everything You Need to Know Before Taking the Plunge, which launches July 2019 and has already received rave reviews, is an indispensable manual for fully understanding all the practical considerations that go into building, owning, and living in a tiny home on wheels. Schapdick offers first-hand information to help tiny home aspirants realize the dream, with advice on design, construction, legalities of living in a tiny home, and how to deal with some of the inevitable challenges of living tiny.
“Before you run out and get yourself a tiny house, there are a few things that you should ponder. It’s potentially a big, life-changing step. You should ask yourself, and be clear about, what your motivations are. This book will help you sort through some of these and other questions.”
~ Chris Schapdick
Schapdick began his career in the corporate world but soon realized it wasn’t for him. “I did that for too long and I decided to pull the plug on a career that wasn’t providing me with any sense of accomplishment or satisfaction,” he says. “I built a tiny house for my daughter and I. I so enjoyed this process that I wanted to build more. Tiny Industrial was born.”
Tiny Industrial LLC, Schapdick’s tiny home building company, is based in New Jersey where Schapdick is from. The company not only builds tiny houses, it also converts buses into livable homes. Since making the switch to entreupreneurship, Schapdick has gone on to build countless tiny homes for customers, helps others through his personal coaching business, and was awarded the “Best Tiny House Award” by the New Jersey Tiny House Festival in 2017. “This new path is infinitely more rewarding,” Schapdick says.
Chis Schapdick is on track to release another tiny home building book with Creative Homeowner, an imprint of Fox Chapel Publishing, next year. “My goal in creating tiny home books is to help others forge their own path,” says Schapdick.
“The BEST tiny house book you will ever read.”
