Making the Wooden Jewelry

Trace the patterns onto the wood. I trace the patterns for the open flowers and leaves onto thick pieces of wood and slice them into thinner pieces. Trace the bud patterns onto a long, thin piece of roughly rounded wood and leave them attached until they are nearly complete. In general, you need 15 to 18 pieces for each bracelet. I spend an afternoon cutting plenty of each charm so I can sit and mix and match as I want without running back and forth to the saw.

  • Assorted hardwood scraps
  • Head pins: 2″ (5.1cm) long stainless steel
  • Jump rings
  • Accent beads (optional)
  • Epoxy: 5-minute
  • Acrylic paints: purple, shamrock green, yellow
  • Charm bracelet blank with toggle closure

Tools

  • Rotary tool
  • Carbide-point bit: flame-shaped
  • Fluted bits: small cylinder, medium cylinder
  • Mandrel with sanding disc
  • Paintbrushes
  • Pliers: needle nose
