Desiree Hajny’s accomplishments in the woodcarving arts span fourty-on years as an author, teacher, commissioned artist, and competition judge. Desiree has won an amazing number of national and international awards for her carvings, including 26 best-of-show honors, more than 150 first place awards, 18 people’s choice awards, and the Woodcarving Illustrated Woodcarver of the Year award, making her the first female to win the award. She is the author of nine woodcarving books, a contributor to seven others, and a contributing editor to woodworking periodicals across the United States and Europe. Desiree also creates commissioned pieces, which have included works for Disney Animal Kingdom and the National Forest Products Association. Her designs have also been reproduced and marketed in gift shops throughout North America by Mill Creek Studios in California. She lives in Blue Hill, NE, with her husband, Bernie.
